İsmail Aga Madrasa is between the mostly renovated buildings within the Suleyman Bey Kulliye located in the historical İçerişehir District. The historical sources state that the building was originally commissioned by Seyfeddin Süleyman Bey and its inscription reads that it was renewed by Emir İsmail Aga, who ruled in Beyşehir on behalf of the Ilkhanids in 1370, during the Ilkhanid rule in Anatolia. İsmail Aga, who died in 1379, is buried in his shrine in the madrasa. This shrine, which became a place of pilgrimage over time, is known as Süt Dede by the local people, and it is said that this name derives from the visit of women who cannot breastfeed their babies.
