
The horse carriage is a mode of transportation that has greatly aided humans since the invention of the wheel. In 2000 BCE, Hittites utilized chariots for the first time in Anatolia. Carriage-wheel representations have been found on petroglyphs in Central Asia dating back as 1000 BCE. Ox-drawn carts were employed for rural transportation in Anatolia throughout the Seljuk and Ottoman eras. Horse-drawn carriages were in use in the cities and on intercity highways.
