Karapınar district is located in the Central Anatolian Region on the Karapınar Plain. The district was once called as "Sultaniye," and it is located on the Sultaniye Plain, south of the Obruk Plateau and west of the Karacadağ volcanic cone. The district is located 95 kilometers east of Konya city center. Karapınar, which is Konya's gateway to the east, is bordered by the provinces of Aksaray and Karaman. The district is adjacent to Emirgazi and Ereğli districts in the east, Karaman province and Ayrancı district in the south, Çumra district in the west, Karatay, one of the central districts of Konya, and Aksaray province in the north.
