Karatay Madrasa is located in the Karatay district of Konya today, and it was built by Celalettin Karatay during the reign of Izzettin Kayka'us II for hadith and tafsir studies.

The madrasah, which is a single-story building, has an enormous portal that exemplifies the Seljuk period stonework in every aspect. The portal, an indicator of Classical Seljuk architecture, contains various geometric shapes, rug and knot motifs, various plant drawings, tiles and marbles used in different colors, and certain verses and suras from the Qur'an.
