
The relationship between the Ottomans and Karamanids is narrated in the historical sources referring to the Çarşamba Stream as the border between them. Çarşamba Stream, whose source is in the Geyik Mountains at the western border of the Central Taurus Mountains, flowing to the northwest, arrives at the Konya Plain through the Steppe City in its 100 km journey. According to the scholars, the most important source of the Çarşamba Stream is the Aygır Spring fed by the Lake Sarıot. Several large and small streams such as Kuruçay, Kayapınar, Söğüt and Çökelez joins to the Çarşamba Stream.
