According to the rumor, Cemel Ali Dede, one of the disciples of Sultan'ul-Ulema Bahaeddin Veled, worked as the caretaker for Mevlana and was known by the nickname cemel, which means camel, because he carried him on his back pretending to be a camel and making him laugh. Cemel Ali Dede died in 1261 and was buried in a mausoleum erected near the Meram Vineyards, where Mevlana frequently took a walk. Today, Cemel Ali Dede Masjid and Tomb is located on Yaka Street in Selam Neighborhood.
