Today, at Ant Square in Konya's city center, there is a historical school called Konya High School. Konya High School, one of the oldest educational institutions in Turkey, was opened as Konya High School in a building that does not exist now, on the eastern foot of Alaeddin Hill, with the efforts of Konya Governor Sururi Pasha in 1889 during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid. A year later, it was moved to the building where today's Coed Secondary School is located, and in 1934 to its current historical building.
