
Lake Tuz is located in the Central Anatolia Region, at the intersection of Konya, Aksaray and Ankara. Lake Tuz meets a large percentage of our country's salt needs. In terms of surface area, it is the second largest lake in Turkey after Lake Van. The area covered by the lake varies according to the air temperatures in the basin. Lake Tuz is characterized as a closed basin lake because it has no outflow. Lake Tux and its surroundings, which have a unique geological and natural structure, were declared a Special Environmental Protection Area in 2001.
