According to legend, there are two elements of beauty that comprise Meram. One of them is the Meram Stream and the second is the cool Meram breeze, which the people call gedavet. Meram Stream, which gives life to Konya, takes its source from Altınapa Dam, which collects the waters of Başarakavak, Sille, and Dere, which originate in the mountains west of the city, and flows through the city to reach Aslım Swamp in the east, despite losing a significant amount of water along the way. Meram Stream, which gathers water from a closed basin, is fed by the areas of Aladağ, Gevele, Kalburcu, Karganlıdağ, Kocaçal, Loras Mountain, Meke, Salahaddin, Şalgamlık, Uğurca over a 630 km2 area.
